  • (A) u²/g
  • (B) u²/g (at θ = 45°, R = u² sin 2θ / g = u²/g)
  • (C) 2u²/g
  • (D) u²/2g
📝 Explanation Horizontal Range R = u² sin 2θ / g. At θ = 45°, sin 90° = 1, so R = u²/g. This is the maximum range for a given initial speed u.
  • (A) F (Fluorine)
  • (B) Cl (Chlorine)
  • (C) Br (Bromine)
  • (D) I (Iodine)
📝 Explanation Chlorine has the highest electron affinity among halogens (not fluorine) because F has a very small atomic size causing electron–electron repulsion in the compact 2p subshell. Cl's 3p orbital accommodates the extra electron more comfortably.
  • (A) 0
  • (B) 1
  • (C) 2
  • (D) 3 (roots: x = −2, 1, 1)
📝 Explanation f(x) = x³ − 3x + 2 = (x−1)²(x+2). So roots are x = 1 (repeated) and x = −2. Three real roots counting multiplicity, or 2 distinct real roots. The cubic has 3 real roots with x = 1 as a repeated root.
  • (A) β/2
  • (B) β
  • (C) 2β
  • (D) 4β
📝 Explanation Fringe width β = λD/d. New β' = (2λ)·D / (d/2) = 4λD/d = 4β. Doubling λ doubles β; halving d doubles it again → net 4×.
  • (A) Methanol
  • (B) Ethanal (Acetaldehyde)
  • (C) Ethanoic acid (with excess oxidiser)
  • (D) Both B and C depending on conditions
📝 Explanation With limited oxidising agent, ethanol → ethanal (CH₃CHO). With excess acidified K₂Cr₂O₇, it further oxidises to ethanoic acid (CH₃COOH). Option D is the most complete answer for JEE context.
  • (A) 0
  • (B) 1
  • (C) π/2
  • (D) π
📝 Explanation ∫₀^π sin²x dx = ∫₀^π (1 − cos 2x)/2 dx = [x/2 − sin 2x/4]₀^π = π/2 − 0 = π/2.

⚛️ Physics

  • Master Mechanics & Electrostatics first — 30–35% weightage
  • Solve 10 previous year Qs per topic before moving on
  • Waves, Optics & Modern Physics are high-scoring & conceptual
  • Draw free-body diagrams for every problem
  • Focus on units & dimensions for quick sanity checks

🧪 Chemistry

  • Organic: Name reactions + mechanisms are non-negotiable
  • Inorganic: NCERT is your bible — read every line
  • Physical: Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry = high yield
  • Revise periodic trends weekly — dozens of questions each year
  • Make flash cards for reagent-to-product conversions

📐 Mathematics

  • Calculus (Integration & Differentiation) = 35–40% of marks
  • Coordinate Geometry is the easiest scoring chapter
  • Algebra: Sequences, Complex Numbers, P&C — daily 3 Qs
  • Attempt Maths last in the exam to maximise accuracy
  • Practice mental calculation to save time in MCQs

📅 Exam Strategy

  • Attempt 60 full mock tests before the exam — timed
  • First 15 min: read all 90 questions, mark easy ones
  • Negative marking: skip if less than 70% confident
  • Night before: light revision, 8 hrs sleep, no new topics
  • Carry admit card + valid ID + stationery (no pencil box)

📖 Recommended Books

  • Physics: HC Verma Vol. 1 & 2 + DC Pandey
  • Chemistry: NCERT + OP Tandon (Organic)
  • Mathematics: RD Sharma + Arihant Skills in Mathematics
  • Previous Year PYQs: Disha 45 Years JEE compendium

🎯 JEE Advanced Extra

  • Advanced has multi-correct, integer & paragraph questions
  • Partial marking and −2 for wrong multi-correct — be careful
  • IIT Delhi/Bombay level coaching material is essential
  • Solve at least 10 years of Advanced PYQs completely
  • Target AIR < 2500 for top 7 IITs — 180+ marks needed
